In the second quarter of 2013, smartphones surpassed sales for the first time in history the traditional mobile phones. Smartphones accounted for 51.8% of sales of mobile phones, with 225 million units, according to Gartner. In Brazil there were already 283 million at the end of June 2015.

A survey conducted by an American consulting firm (Gartner) showed that 97% of smartphone users worldwide use the systems established Android (Google) and iOS (Apple). The Windows Phone and Blackberry platforms together add up to 2.8%

The rise of the smartphone helped to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks that previously needed a computer to carry out. However, it has generated a dependency on a part of the population, which in misuse of this device also ends up compromising the health of these individuals. Constant use of smartphone generates various physical and mental damage to the lives of users who spend hours using them.Disease called Nomophobia.

A survey by the magazine "Time" and Qualcomm, in several countries, showed that cell phone use is becoming more intense. Of the five thousand participants, 79% said they feel bad without the phone. In Brazil, 58% said they use mobile phones every 30 minutes and 35% every ten minutes.
